~First, All of you breeders/sellers on craigslist should be made to work in the "back" of an animal shelter for a day; maybe if you saw the life drain out a few sad, lost and confused eyes you would change your mind about breeding and selling!

~ About 50% of all dogs that are "owner surrenders" or "strays" are purebred dogs. The most common excuses I hear are: "We are moving and can't take our dog or cat”....or...."The dog got bigger than we thought." Where are you moving that doesn't allow pets and how big did you think a German shepherd would get!? "You don't have time?" Well I work 10-12 hour days and still have time for my 6 dogs!

~Odds are your pet won't get adopted & how stressful do you think being in a shelter is? Your pet has 72 hours to find a new family from the moment you drop it off (sometimes longer if the shelter isn't full). Your pet will be confined to a small run/kennel in a room with about 25 other barking or crying animals. If your dog or cat looks unhealthy in any way, it dies!

~If your dog is BIG, BLACK or any of the "Bully" breeds, it was pretty much dead the moment you walked it through the front door. Those dogs just don't get adopted. If your dog doesn't get adopted within 72 hours and the shelter is full, it will be DESTROYED! If the shelter isn't full and your dog is a desirable enough breed, he/she may get a stay of execution...but not for long. Most dogs get kennel protective after about a week and are destroyed for showing aggression (even the sweetest dogs will turn in this environment).

Here's a little euthanasia 101 for those of you that have never witnessed a perfectly healthy, scared animal being "put-down:"

1. Your pet will be taken from its kennel on a leash (they always think they're going for a walk and are happily wagging their tails).

2. Once the dogs/cats get to "The Room", every one of them freaks out and puts on the brakes when we get to the door. It must smell like death, but it happens with every one of them. Your dog or cat will then be restrained, held down by 1 or 2 vet techs depending on the size and how freaked out they are.

3. The euthanasia tech or a vet will start the process; they will find a vein in the front leg and inject a lethal dose of the "pink stuff". Hopefully your pet doesn't panic from being restrained and jerk (I've seen the needles tear out of a leg and been covered with the resulting blood and deafened by the yelps and screams). They all just don’t "go to sleep." Sometimes.....they spasm for a while, gasp for air and defecate themselves.

4. When it all ends, your pet's corpse will be stacked like firewood in a large freezer in the back with all of the other animals that were killed that day and waiting to be picked up.

~What happens next? Cremated? Taken to the dump? Rendered into pet food? You'll never know and it probably won't even cross your mind as it was just an animal and you can always buy another one, right?

So, what they are saying is that we should all stop breeding because

there are some owners out there who have a change of life circumstances

and can no longer keep their animals? I know that one thing you CAN

count on in this life is change. We can not predict the changes that

will happen to any given person in the future. Should we prevent anyone

from being able to have an animal because their life MIGHT change over

the next 10 or so years?

Well, I always think of it this way. Everyone stop breeding for 10-15

years. No more rabbits, no puppies, no kittens, no horses, sheep, pigs

etc. All domestic breeds of animals will disappear. The geriatric pets

left over won't be able to reproduce, and the ARA's will get their wish

of extinction of all of our known breeds. In livestock, many heritage

breeds are already extinct because commercial farming has led to a

narrowing of the gene pool to certain high production breeds.

We'll probably still have dogs, because there will always be those who

let out their pets to reproduce randomly. They will be nothing

recognizable with no known purpose; but that is what they want, isn't

it? We shouldn't be allowed to USE animals for our own purposes. The

ARA's have never kept sheep, so they see no use in a herding dog. They

haven't had heavy loads to carry or livestock to protect or vermin to be

rid of, so they wouldn't want breeds that are specifically bred to these

purposes.

I am glad you are proud to be a breeder. I am too. :-)

Unfortunately I am one of those who really doesn't need to read to book to see the life drain out of an animal that is in a shelter.

I unfortunately am one of the ones who has to clean up the mess made by ANYONE who allows their animal to breed. That includes the accidental litter, the oops litter and the breeders litters.

So until YOU stop breeding then I will continue to state my opinion and if you don't like it, that's just do darn bad. One of the good things about living in America is that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can freely state mine to you that are so narrowminded to think that breeding is still alright in this day and age.

Thank you for so beautifully demonstrating the fact that there is every reason we should fight for our own rights, because there is no hope of resolution and no expectation of fair treatment when dealing with fanatics. My definition of a fanatic is one who has a fixed belief system which does not allow for the equal rights, liberties and viewpoints of others. Fanatic..If the shoe fits, wear it!

And fanatics should not be in positions of legal authority like yours, because they are in a conflict of interest with the public they serve. It would be really nice to find out who you really are, and where you really work, because your stated opinions would be a tarnish on your record, especially if you ever had to testify in court.

We are very well aware of people with this anti-breeding agenda, in positions of authority, using "cruelty" charges to frame people up, when in fact it is YOUR industry which perpetrates gross negligence and cruelty on animals, and gets away with it.

If not for fanaticism and extremism, perhaps people could come to the table and work on some issues.. There are always issues to work on, room for improvement. But fanatics want it all, THEIR way, and are control freaks. They drive everyone else away from the table, and create more problems than they ever fix.

When you said that America was a great place to live (because we still had rights???), you forgot to mention the reason why we have Free Speech, and that is because it is one of the Constitutionally guaranteed (???) "Bill of Rights", which includes the right to "pursuit of happiness", also to the "3 Ps".. Privacy, Property, and Papers. You guys want to come and kick in doors, seize legal property and take our papers, computers, etc. You want to starve the dogs down, let them fight, and then take pictures of them as "evidence". You want to torment and kill our dogs, and then you have the nerve to say you are on the right side of things. NAZI's did the same, as do all thugs which get themselves into positions of power. Why? Generally, because it enriches them. They are thieves.. thug / thieves, with badges.

Fanaticism is a mental illness, in my opinion. Fanatics don't live in the real world. They live in a quasi reality in which Jews, black people, Native Americans, queers.. and now, animal breeders, are a threat to society which must be stopped. Like Don Quixote, they are inwardly zealots, and self-styled saviors, looking for giants to joust. Unlike the amusing and fictionary Don Quixote, they are scary and real. One of the things I am afraid of, is that the world will lose it's animal husbandry heritage (knowledge base and breeding stock) and end up helpless to provide for itself, if the economy completely collapses. It seems like such a thing would never happen, and that our wonderful technology and economy would provide for us all completely, but in recent times it seems more plausible that things could go wrong. Animal husbandry and agriculture have, on the other hand, provided for human needs for thousands of years. Agriculture is actually a lot more fallible, whereas livestock, herding and grazing have proven more sustainable. Where there are cattle and sheep, man needs dogs to help manage and tend them.

I agree, this is something they are given to send out when the 'heat is on'. I have seen something like it, almost word for word several times before. Yes, it is a shame they can not think for themselves.

I would love to compare notes with this goofball.... I have worked in a shelter, assisted in putting down dogs with illness, injuries and some that had to be put down because they were just plan mean. There is a reason for the dogs being there and it certainly isn't always the dreaded overpopulation story we get either.

Well, I'm off to bed shortly, I have a rabbit show tomorrow and it is a long drive in the very early morning....

After I got to thinking about it, I realized that this tract that she is sending around is canned. I've seen it before, the bit about "life draining from their eyes". Life does not drain from the eyes! What an idiot, who wrote this, anyway. But it's old stuff. Bedwetter is just a spammer. I forgot the rules about "Don't feed the trolls", and sent a reply to what I thought was this list.. (Other rule broken: Always check the "To:" line before hitting "Send"). It went to her personal email box. She then sent me a really nasty, sick reply.. something indicating a very immature and disturbed mind". She is probably a teenager, or someone who is VERY uneducated and uncouth!

Thank you for sharing what you did. I had no idea what to do so I did

the same thing by forwarding the emails to the address you shared &

also blocked the persons email address.

I don't mind if people sometimes contact me personally for

conversation but I'm not interested in being put on a list with a

bunch of people to harass! That's not why I'm here on this group or

any group for that matter.

Hhhhhhmmmm, on my site? I do believe that I had the Petfinder deleted over a month ago. Why? Because I no longer believe in the AR propaganda. I have not gone back to check but I spoke directly to Sarah Greene over a month ago and told her to remove the site effective immediately.

Honey, the only people selling dogs happens to be rescuers...... Look at those outrageous prices for a mutt!! And to think they call themselves rescuers.... for shame, they are only brokering dogs!!

Oh, and my dogs are my babies because they mind a hell of alot better than my stepchildren do and I spoil my dogs because I have always done so, even as a child. They are my companions, nothing more so I treat them well. I do not breed dogs or cats, I just keep them around for sanity purposes..... Sorry but you are sooo wrong about me, as usual. Oh, and you mispelled my last name too, dumbass.

First off, I am not a member of the group and haven't been in a quite a LONG time... Seems that Betterway404 had one of his/her mood swings and removed me months ago. Sorry but I don't need to be on a group in order to find out who the nutcases are or what is going on....

Secondly, I DO NOT do rescue. I quit for health reasons and to work on breeding rabbits for show. Another reason I quit is because of so many folks claiming to do rescue but they are only in it for the money, not the animals, as they claim to be. They are nothing more than dog brokers moving dogs from one place to another for profit and claiming to be doing rescue..... Also, I am tired of every animal they take in being a rescue. Hell, most of them are given the animals by a caring owner who is moving or going to a nursing home or whatever, not because the animal was dying in the streets, yet the "rescue" claims to have saved that life. BULLSHIT!! Also, I am tired of the way rescues are always patting each other on the back and claiming to be doing such a wonderful job but in all reality, they are only doing stuff for the glory, not the animal. If they want to convince me of their doing rescue work, let them get out in the cold and horrible weather and go out and feed someone's starving animals or take a horse some hay and grain because the owner has no money due to losing a job. Yeah, so much for those ARs and Rescuers, huh?

Thirdly, I do not condone PETA and their terroristic tactics or HSUS . I have no desire to harass farmers or medical labs who are doing what they can to either provide food for our tables or to cure diseases.

Before you start your nonsense with me, you had better have your info correct and if you continue to harass me, I will send a complaint to Yahoo to see about getting your ID deleted for violation of TOS.
